Due to ongoing business growth, we currently have an excellent new role for a Mechanical Technician with a client based in Shannon. This is a new role that involves time in the workshop and on-site work at customer sites.  

This role requires a self starter with the ability to work on their own initiative. The ideal candidate should have experience in assembly, installation and maintenance of production equipment. Good knowledge of engineering drawings. 

Key responsibilities and tasks:

  • Assembly and installation of mechanical components such as motors, valves, filters, according to specifications and safety standards.
  • Manufacture and install machine safety guarding and enclosures.
  • Machine installation and retrofitting.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical systems to identify issues.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems, troubleshoot malfunctions, and implement effective repair solutions.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering departments to ensure the timely completion of maintenance tasks and minimize production downtime.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment logs.

Required qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Ideally have completed e.g.  Machine Tool Operating course or equivalent
  • Good attitude towards work.
  • Experience with using cutting and drilling tools and product assembly in a regulated manufacturing environment 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and create hand sketches.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose mechanical issues effectively.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety protocols.
  • Effective communication skills, including fluent English.
