HealthcareDirect are currently looking to employ a part time Staff Grade Occupational Therapist to support clients in the Galway area. You will work in private nursing home settings which require Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention for Older Adults. Experience in seating assessments is a benefit. This role is for 2-3 days a week and the hours will based on candidate availability. There is potential for additional hours depending on caseload growth. You will work in a supported environment lead by our Occupational Therapist Manager and be given the opportunity to work autonomously in the private healthcare sector. The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Deliver a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service to Adults and Older Adults consisting of physical, sensory and cognitive assessment and treatment. 
  • Devise and carry out appropriate assessments e.g. functional and meaningful activities of daily living, seating, restrictive practice, hoist & slings.
  • Work with other Healthcare Professionals such as Nurses, Speech & Language Therapists and Physiotherapists.
  • Liaise with resident’s families and other relevant agencies.
  • Active engagement in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) e.g. Staff Training Days
  • Participate in the service Annual Performance Review System.

Prerequisites:

  • 1 years’ post registration experience working as an Occupational Therapist in the public or private sector
  • Experience in providing Occupational Therapy input to the elderly population
  • CORU registration
  • Membership of the AOTI
  • Full driver’s license and access to a car
  • Occupational Therapy Private Indemnity Insurance
