Our Shannon based client, a leading supplier of precision sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing, are currently looking for a Fixture Design Engineer to join their team.
 
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Fixture Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, fabrication and maintaining of new and old fixtures; processing production parts to engineering specification; while focusing on opportunities for cost reductions and quality improvements.

Responsibilities will include:
 
  • Create, design and layout all custom fixtures i.e., weld, assembly, test and inspection fixtures.
  • Interpret calibration results and troubleshoot any issues related to calibration.
  • Create necessary technical procedures.
  • Inspect and repair fixtures as necessary to ensure consistent quality of production parts.
  • Document fixture repairs and modifications.
  • Modify existing tool designs and document changes.
  • Preparing and maintaining Bill of Materials.
  • Creating production drawings for new parts & prototypes.
  • Answer any technical queries operators may have.
  • Cost reductions and methods to improve production.
  • Follow new parts/prototypes from start to completion.
 
Required Qualifications & Experience:
 
  • Candidates must have a Degree in Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering and design, familiarity with checking fixtures would be an advantage.
  • Strong experience in Creo or Solid Works.
  • Knowledge of FMEA.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers and managers.
