Electrical Maintenance Technician

eFlexes Recruitment is currently recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Technician on behalf of a leading manufacturing organisation based in Limerick.

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining manufacturing and facility equipment, systems, and infrastructure in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring equipment reliability and operational excellence.
This role involves both preventative and reactive maintenance within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Technical Support
- Maintain manufacturing process equipment to ensure optimal operational performance.
- Maintain facilities systems and controlled environments.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns with thorough fault-finding, diagnostics, repair, and improvement actions.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance activities on time.
- Conduct critical and non-critical equipment calibration.
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Implement engineering upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and compliant maintenance records within the Quality Management System.
- Ensure all work is performed in line with established quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Oversee external contractors completing servicing and calibration.
- Maintain workplace safety and ensure correct procedures are followed at all times.
Team & Development
- Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.
- Supervise and mentor an electrical apprentice.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across manufacturing and facilities.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to further training and professional development.
Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements
- Electrical trade qualification or Electrical Engineering qualification (Craft level or higher) – Industrial/Commercial.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Electro-mechanical systems
- Pneumatics
- Heating systems
- Motor control and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
- Experience with PLCs and HMIs.
- Ability to read and troubleshoot:
- Ladder logic
- Function block programming
- Electrical and mechanical schematics
- Experience in machine automation (relays, load cells, sensors, switches).
- Knowledge of fire alarm, security, and network systems.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of decisions.
- Strong documentation and computer skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- High standards of housekeeping and workshop organisation.
- Full ownership of electrical systems, equipment, and spare parts management.
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Instrumentation experience.
- ATEX (vapours) experience.
