Electrical Maintenance Technician

Location: Limerick (On-site)

eFlexes Recruitment is currently recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Technician on behalf of a leading manufacturing organisation based in Limerick.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining manufacturing and facility equipment, systems, and infrastructure in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring equipment reliability and operational excellence.

This role involves both preventative and reactive maintenance within a regulated manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Technical Support

  • Maintain manufacturing process equipment to ensure optimal operational performance.
  • Maintain facilities systems and controlled environments.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns with thorough fault-finding, diagnostics, repair, and improvement actions.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance activities on time.
  • Conduct critical and non-critical equipment calibration.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Implement engineering upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and compliant maintenance records within the Quality Management System.
  • Ensure all work is performed in line with established quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Oversee external contractors completing servicing and calibration.
  • Maintain workplace safety and ensure correct procedures are followed at all times.

Team & Development

  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.
  • Supervise and mentor an electrical apprentice.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across manufacturing and facilities.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to further training and professional development.

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Electrical trade qualification or Electrical Engineering qualification (Craft level or higher) – Industrial/Commercial.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Electro-mechanical systems
    • Pneumatics
    • Heating systems
    • Motor control and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
  • Experience with PLCs and HMIs.
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot:
    • Ladder logic
    • Function block programming
    • Electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Experience in machine automation (relays, load cells, sensors, switches).
  • Knowledge of fire alarm, security, and network systems.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of decisions.
  • Strong documentation and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • High standards of housekeeping and workshop organisation.
  • Full ownership of electrical systems, equipment, and spare parts management.

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Instrumentation experience.
  • ATEX (vapours) experience.
