Environmental Health & Safety Officer

eFlexes are currently assisting in the recruitment of an Environment Health & Safety Officer for a valued Client based in Co. Clare.

The Environmental Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s compliance in line with statutory regulations, risk assessments, and safety Audits.

On a day-to-day basis, the responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring all current and emerging EHS regulations and developing strategies/programs to ensure compliance.
  • Developing and maintaining the company’s EHS management systems and internal policies & procedures in accordance with standards such as ISO14001.
  • Optimise and develop programs to reduce environmental, health and safety risks.
  • Developing an in depth understanding of technical processes and methods used throughout company operations.
  • Maintaining knowledge of the waste industry best practice and other standards in health and safety domains.
  • Build an in-depth understanding of EHS operational practices and implement new systems and processes in an accurate, timely and efficient way.
  • Evaluation of processes, systems and equipment for EHS impacts.
  • Developing with site management, measures including, risk assessments and health & safety plans to assure personnel safety on site.
  • Liaising with external authorities such as EPA, HAS, Local Authorities on EHS related matters and site visits, audits, accident investigations etc.
  • Represent the Company during outside Agency Audits/Inspections.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Third level qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Experience of report writing and investigations
  • Proven audit, evaluation and investigative skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail
  • Fluent business English
