Due to ongoing business growth, we currently have an exciting opportunity for Senior Buyer to join our Shannon, Co. Clare based Aviation client.   Position will be offered as full-time permanent role with a very attractive package for the right candidate.

Specific Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction and leadership to team members
  • Be the lead in tendering process for evaluating suppliers for capital and New Production Introduction (NPI) Projects
  • Be the main point of contact with purchasing
  • Ensure the company is compliant with all purchasing guidelines
  • Research and evaluate potential suppliers
  • Negotiate key sourcing terms (price, payment terms, freight terms, MOQ, lead-time) with suppliers and execute commercial agreements
  • Initiate new supplier and new part number set up on ERP System
  • Maintain a high level of service to internal/external suppliers.
  • Liaise with internal customers regarding order status
  • Be the lead with supplier appraisal and monitoring, i.e. Monthly KPI reports.
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with suppliers, forwarding agents and couriers.
  • Resolution of supply problems, general queries and queries relating to payment invoices.
  • Maintain an accurate supplier database
  • Develop and have a good knowledge of materials being purchased for company.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing filing system
  • Continue to improve and develop robust purchasing processes.
  • Be conscious of costs and attempt to achieve savings on an ongoing basis.

 

Person Specification:

  • 5 years+ experience in a similar position preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience of using an ERP system is essential.
  • Excellent negotiation analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of supplier sourcing practices (researching, evaluating, liaising with suppliers)
  • Qualification in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering desirable.
  • Must have very strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products – specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Highly motivated and capable of working on own initiative.
  • Fluent verbal and written English.
