Title: People Moving & Handling Instructor (Contract/Part-Time)

Role:

  • Qualified QQI Level 6 Manual Handling and People Moving & Handling Training Instructor with a background in healthcare e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Nursing, experienced delivering courses such as:
    • Manual Handling (0.5 day) and People Handling (1 day),
    • Manual Handling and People Moving & Handling Instructor Programmes (QQI Level 6) 4 or 5 days courses.
  • Proactively liaising with clients to adapt courses to their unique requirements e.g. focus on a particular area of the course while also keeping in mind the course specifications.
  • Assess participants skills knowledge, correct course related assignments and provide feedback on same, according to QQI criteria.
  • Complete all administrative work related to the course delivery.
  • Ensure training records and assignment materials are stored in a confidential and secure manner.
  • Manage issues as they arise through the process (booking, delivery and closure with participants).
  • Keep updated on developments in the field and legislation through research and by attendance of relevant conferences and seminars, maintenance of CPD requirement.
  • Represent the company in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Requirements:

  • Must have a recognised, relevant healthcare professional qualification e.g. Registered Nurse, Chartered Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist.
  • QQI Level 6 Special Purpose Award in Manual Handling and People Moving & Handling Instruction.
  • Must be experienced in working in healthcare/social care settings.
  • Advanced working knowledge of relevant literature and research in the healthcare sector, evidence based practice.
  • Must have own professional indemnity insurance cover.
  • Ability to influence positive organisational change related to people and manual handling, practice and nursing/therapist care delivery.
  • Team player with advanced communication skills who can act as an advocate at all levels.
  • Experience liaising with staff from multidisciplinary backgrounds in order to promote safer handling practices, optimal practice in patient / resident / client care delivery and ensuring excellent communication.
