HealthcareDirect are currently looking to employ a part time Occupational Therapist to work across orthopaedic hospital, community hospital and private nursing home settings in Limerick.  You will work in a fully supported environment lead by our OT Clinical Manager. The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities: xes 2006-2

  • Deliver a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service to patients prior to and following their elective orthopaedic surgery and older adults in long term care settings.
  • Devise and carry out appropriate functional assessments e.g. physical, sensory, cognitive, activities of daily living, seating, hoist & slings.
  • Be responsible for client assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised treatment/intervention plans that are patient centred and in line with best practice.
  • Collaborate with patients, family, and other staff in treatment planning /intervention to ensure that an optimum service is provided for all patients.
  • Communicate and work in co-operation with other team members such as Nurses, Speech & Language Therapists and Physiotherapists in providing an integrated top-quality service.
  • Document patient records in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies.
  • Work within own scope of professional competence in line with principles of best practice, professional conduct and clinical governance.
  • Active engagement in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) e.g. Staff Training Days, completing relevant training courses, attending educational seminars etc.
  • Support a safe discharge to the person’s own home, including appropriate equipment provision, carrying out home visits and liaising with community services as required.   
  • Active engagement in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) e.g. Staff Training Days

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum 1 year post-graduation experience
  • CORU registration
  • Membership of the AOTI
  • Full driver’s license and access to a car
  • Private Indemnity Insurance
