The position of Head of Operations presents an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in playing a significant role within the tourism sector.

The successful applicant will report to the General Manager and work closely with Senior Management and Business Unit Managers.

The Head of Operations will be responsible for providing general senior management in a range of areas to all the tourism sites and will oversee the operations of the iconic sites.

This position will head the Operations department, including facilities, and will provide line management for the Operational Management team. The role encompasses overseeing and directing all aspects of site operations with a focus on service delivery.

 

Priority areas for the  Head of Operations are:

  • The Operational and Health & Safety aspects of the visitor experiences operation
  • Ensuring that the key objectives of the organisation are met by managing workloads that maximises the use of resources.
  • Managing the Operations Management Team
  • Ensuring a world class visitor experience is provided and helping to embed a culture of a great place to work through trust and respect.

 

The main duties of the Head of Operations include:

  •  Coordinate all operational activities at Visitor Attraction sites to ensure a world-class visitor experience.
  •  Communicate and enforce Standard Operating Procedures and Policies to staff and Business Unit Managers.
  •  Ensure compliance with legislative standards, policies, and company expectations.
  •  Approve monthly staff rosters for adequate site staffing.
  •  Supervise daily rosters for staffing efficiency and task accountability.
  •  Maintain Health & Safety on site for employees and visitors.
  •  Manage operational planning and site capacity.
  •  Handle service licensing, communications, and crisis management.
  • Supervise Operational Duty Managers and Business Unit Managers.
  • Maintain site standards and facility management.
  •  Provide operational reporting to the General Manager.
  •  Manage onsite signage and digital displays.
  •  Handle customer complaints.
  •  Develop operational improvement plans.
  •  Establish effective internal communications and meeting structures.
  •  Maintain visibility and involvement across sites.
  •  Foster employee relations and open communication.
  •  Execute specific projects as assigned.
  •  Research and recommend methods to improve service delivery.
  •  Undertake special projects as directed.
  •  Support associated tourist attractions and services.
  •  Serve as Deputy General Manager East as needed.

 

Requirements/Essential Skills and Attributes:

  •  Proven track record in operational and H&S management with at least 3 years of management experience.
  •  Ideally, the candidate will possess a Diploma or Degree in a similar or related discipline in tourism or visitor management. H&S qualification is advantageous.
  •  Experience in workforce management systems packages.
  •  Flexibility and a strong problem-solving approach to issues.
  •  Experience in managing people in a small to medium-sized enterprise.
  •  Ability to demonstrate high levels of teamwork and motivation.
  •  Proven organizational skills and experience in multitasking.
  •  A commitment to excellence, continual innovation, and world-class service delivery.
  •  Qualifications or experience as outlined above.
  •  Ability to enforce Clare Tourism Development DAC standards, policies, and procedures with employees.
  •  Attention to detail.
  •  Ability to perform job functions to standards under pressure.
  •  Ability to ensure the security and confidentiality of visitor and company information.
