We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Financial Accountant (Trainee) with our long-established multinational client based in Shannon, Co. Clare. Please note: it is a 3 year contract role.

Person will carry out tasks within the financial accounting and financial management areas within the company supporting the Senior Finance Personnel to ensure that all transactions are accurately reflected in the books of account on a timely basis and the company’s Business Planning and reporting processes are operated efficiently. 

Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting: 
Participate in the monthly close process up to final trial balance stage ensuring that agreed accounting policies are followed.
Support the preparation of the schedules for the Statutory Accounts.
Maintain the fixed asset register.
Ensure that VAT returns and other statutory returns are properly prepared and submitted in accordance with statutory requirements.
Prepare the statistical data submissions to Government and other Agencies.
Assist Accounts Payable on query clarifications.

Financial Management:
Ensure all bank transactions and month end reconciliations are correctly prepared.
Update the group system for intercompany invoice settlement.
Maintain the  group cash reporting system.
Maintain the Home Loan ledger system and ensure that all documentation supporting the loans is complete and overdue payments are pursued to collection.
Ensure the monthly PAYE/PRSI/Income Levy Payments are made on time and documentation retained and kept up to date.
Ensure the Corporation Tax Payments are paid on time and correctly calculated.
Ensure that Bank Deposit Interest is correctly accrued and tax accounted for during the month-end process.

Business Planning, Controlling and Reporting:

Support the preparation of the annual budget.
Analyse revenue and cost data to update parameters supporting the strategy, budget and forecast.
Prepare and distribute cost centre reports to management. 
Prepare the daily manhour report / month-end manhour reports.

Experience/Qualification Requirements:
It is envisaged that candidates for the position will:
Have a third level degree or diploma
Have approximately 2 years’ experience working in a similar role.
Ideally be a part-qualified current student of the Chartered Accountants in Ireland / ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) / other similar body or have an Accounting Technician qualification, seeking to complete professional exams
Proficient in Microsoft applications and complex excel formulae. Knowledge of visual basic would be advantageous.
Able to work on own initiative and operating to tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Able to identify and implement changes to support continuous improvement.
